Domains are typically priced according to their desirability, for example their generic value, length, and/or traffic. TLD is also considered.
Historical sales prices can create a compelling case why a domain is worth your asking price and provide some insight into what to pay for premium domains.

NOTE – It is important to understand the difference between domains sold on the aftermarket and auctions of expired domains. Domains sold on the aftermarket typically command a much higher price than auctioned expired domains as in the case of aftermarket domains, the buyer can often be the end user (corporate buyer). For auctioned expired domains typically, it is other domainers (domain investors) looking to flip (sell) the domain for a profit at a later date.
