Domains are registered for a period of between 1 and 10 years. The drop process is different for each gTLD and ccTLD.
gTLDs
(Global Top Level Domains are not country specific) e.g. .com, .club, .global, etc.
- Domain Registered for 1 to 10 years.
- Domain expires and connected sites and services cease to resolve.
- Domain enters an auto-renew grace period of 0 – 45 days, depending on the registrar.
- Domain enters redemption period. Domain is suspended and services attached to the domain cease to function. Domain renewal is possible at increased cost.
- Domain enters a pending delete period for 5 days until the domain drops.
Domain ‘drops’ and becomes available for registration once more.
